So this weeks camp was about nocturnal creatures, and the kids were working with a local band (cello and trumpet) to write haikus about owls and then turn the poems into lyrics, and learned about music and composing (they were around 8 yo) and worked with the band to craft three haikus into a song. Man, I was expecting it to be some painful 4th grade kind of recorder recital, but it was actually adorable and really catchy and I wished I'd videotaped it so I could extract the audio. All the parents of the camp kids came to watch and half the staff as well (me and boss lady were hiding in our office being braindead from the heat up until then).
Met a really nice guy who was a candidate to be new boss dude. I have to say that I'm stoked that we're getting so many responses to the position. Choices are nice. And as much as I'm griping that I've not really been given the opportunity to say more than "hi!" to the candidates, it's actually more than I've been given in the past, which the past two times were "and here's your new boss, cya".
PBS show in the style of Project Runway, but about winemakers
What is the name of this because I need to start watching this ASAP.
Hahah!
OK, there's another severe storm right on the heels of this one. And from the looks of it, more that will bring thunder within an hour after it clears.
Fine, I'll do a load of laundry. Maybe that will result in it clearing out and me leaving a load to wrinkle.
It's imaginatively called The Winemakers.
Maybe I'll fly out to California for part of the vacation time and go to a bunch of A's games. Get my fix. Plus I want to see my cousin - just gotta figure out a car. Still do-able. Maybe. Trying to wait before changing plans officially just in case we can still make the road trip work.
Burrell, continued ~ma.
Good outcome ~ma to your sister, Burrell.
It looks like my dozen or so PBS stations don't carry The Winemakers. Pity.
Aw, yay! My cousin had her baby!
Suzi, you're always welcome to stay with us. We're only about 45 minutes from Angels Stadium.
Burrell, best wishes for your sister.
Great news, Jesse!
If I could get down there right now for the current series, I'd be there in a heart beat!!
