I had an early dinner with my folks at their new place. It felt uncomfortably like high school going into the dining room, because 2/3 of the seats have nametags and my folks have clearly not been sharing a table with anyone. They eat alone at a small table in the corner, which makes me sad. How will they meet people if they don't make an effort?
I think I have met more of their neighbors than they have!
Mom was ... a little better, maybe. Less frantic, still irrational, but somewhat willing to be redirected. At one point said she was willing to stay for two months and then immediately switched to one month and then said she wanted to move immediately. Sigh.
This is going to be a long thing. Bah.
And my wine is old and oxidized. I may have to break out the Glenlivet.
My skating coach has retired--it happened while I was away. He had talked about doing it someday, but I had no idea he meant NOW. I didn't get to say goodbye, although I have his email so I can write him. I am bummed--there are other coaches at the rink, but he was my coach ever since I started, so it'll take getting used to a new person.
That's what I figured.
Mostly I just try to make sure the presents aren't too difficult to open.
Bob Costas just made an anti-handgun commentary on the outro of the halftime report on an NFL broadcast. Wow.
I have a spice grinder like this one that I use mostly for cloves and cumin. I used to have an electric blade coffee grinder but the motor died and I replaced it with the manual one.

For those who may not know, an NFL player shot himself to death yesterday outside the Chiefs stadium (after shooting his girlfriend at home).
Wow.
ION I have joined a health club. It's only a block away so really convenient.
Convenient is awesome!
The empanada I ate for dinner is stabbing me in the stomach. I get them every week, no idea why it hates me tonight? But then, even my swim hated me, so maybe that's just that.
