Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

Because books.

Frank, that's what I did! I'm not even sure what it was now, but it was big, and it certainly looked like it had a stinger.

I did apologize, though.

Aw, poor Squeaky. I guess it's soft food from now on.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Tom, my friend C's cat had to have all her teeth extracted. Diabetes related, I think. She carried on happily (and happily eating dry chow).

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Quick comments:

Is it possible we could have "Community" at the buffistas? I'm not sure we are ready for that.

Hil, how have you been?

PETA-files? man, PETA is really going off the rails these days.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I did sign up for a course on Coursera, called The Modern and the Postmodern. We'll see if I get through the initial reading, which is Rousseau, Kant, and Marx.

Challenging coursework! I had a hard enough time with those guys when I was 20. Actually, Marx is fairly straighforward and interesting. Rousseau is all rhetorical and hopped up on his own jazz. Kant is some dense reading, though.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Of course that's what I sent back to my coworker when she sent me the first one!

So your coworkers think know you're a cowgirl, too?

Because books.

Two key people (one of them my immediate supervisor) are handing in their resignations tomorrow. I don't see this ending well for anyone.

Challenging coursework!

After that comes Madame Bovary, though, so I don't know what to think.
