Pretty cool except for the part where I was really terrified and now my knees are all dizzy.

If it weren't for the fact that my inbox operates as my external brain, I would nuke it from orbit today.

My bra is being most problematic.

I have not been able to take care of any personal business because of my overactive inbox.

Hey. New board.

I missed chicken talk! Chickens are in fact omnivorous and need a high protein diet that is often made from Way Too Much Soy in the farming world, though peas and beans and such work too and will be used by some of your more hippy dippy chicken farmers. Personally, I use both but we also let our chickens free range our yard so they get lots of ants and worms and caterpillars. We are planning to start worm beds and cultivate Black Soldier Fly larvae (think the world's least disgusting maggots, which eat your food waste like whoa and make good chicken snacks) to give them even more delicious protein and make compost simultaneously.

Chickens are basically dinosaurs which makes them awesome.

ETA:remember this when you see "All Vegetarian Diet" as that's really a not great thing. We probably shouldn't feed them Vienna sausages (though they love fish scraps as I recently learned) but for the most humane chicken raising they should be pastured and eat bugs.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I locked myself out of my work email, which is mildly okay since I'm off work to go in for a procedure (eta: but my out of office message has the wrong date...). I was at the hospital at 8am, and finally at noon they let me go home because they had no bed yet, and they don't want you to bring your meds in and it was time for my next dose. Of course I don't want to go back to the horribly uncomfortable waiting room, and they said they'd call me at home when they had a room, but I don't trust them. So I called them, and they're already behind just returning that call.

::sigh:: So that's a half day I could have worked. Thanks, guys! One wasted cab round trip, one early wakeup and rushed meal, and hours sitting in thoughtlessly designed chairs.

Not that they confirmed this until I called them at 4:30 yesterday, or anything.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Black Soldier Fly larvae

you damn right!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Am I the only one who thinks maybe this news item isn't telling the whole story? Child rapist dies in farm accident before going to prison.

Props to the news station for not putting "accident" in scare quotes.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

sounds like he committed suicide to me.

I'm saying. (Outside possibility that he got whacked, but most likely suicide.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I am always suspicious when I see eggs labeled both "Free Range!" and "All Vegetarian Diet!" If one isn't a blatant lie, those are some extremely disciplined chickens.

Disciplined chickens conjures up odd images.

I give up. I'm running away from work, I just cannot deal with any more today.
