Wesley: I stabbed you. I should apologize for that. But I'm honestly not sure how. I think it'll just be awkward. Gunn: Good call. Wesley: Okay.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Scalzi loves to swim in his own praise in general, so I can only read comments on his posts sporadically. I did post a longish comment to him (critical) of his most recent novel effort (the one released a week at a time through Amazon).

I am glad he has been prominent in his examination of privilege in general and on the matter of harassment specifically. He just stepped down as president of the SF writers association, an association which got some flak for having the same-old, same-old as finalists. Baby steps, though. The genre has more ground to cover but it would be nice if we could just stop women getting groped and propositioned in huge numbers.

Holy shit, it is awful out there. I was wringing out my hair on the way back from the market at 9:15 this morning. It was disgusting. Just going from the car to the store was miserable. I've got to head to the pool early, it's going to be mobbed.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Thank, Odin, I found a Starbucks with Wifi so I can charge my phone and stay out of the sun before gametime.

Last year our tournament at Ripon was on the backside of a HS. This year we're at the main sports complex. Soooo much more civilized.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am at the beach, where it could be sunnier! But that does make it bearable.

Kat, no, he's been fine between the day program he goes to and my grandmother until now.

hip deep in pie

It is also hot here. I am hanging out in the basement, drinking alcohol tinged lemonade. It could be worse, but I'd rather be at a beach.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I just stumbled on The Losers playing on TNT. Apparently it's joined Lion in Winter, The Princess Bride, and, Rear Window on my list of "stop clicking and watch" movies.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Tilda's awesome.

Jesse, it must be stressful to try to organize people and times for the checking in. I was just curious if you had general coverge.

Yeah, the day program has been it. He doesn't have medical needs, which limits what would be covered, so the cost is an issue, although I think my mother just hired someone for a half day.
