The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Yay beach choose beach. Then maybe yoga after

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My yoga problem is that really the only class I like is Saturday at 11:30 and Wednesday at 6. I do like it, though! Maybe I can go this Wednesday.

My mother is making me crazy -- she still hasn't sent out the announcement about the website I set up to coordinate people to hang out with my father. She has all the neighbors' addresses, and probably some other misc people as well. Feh. I've sent it to the church friends, but aren't people on their actual street the best bet to pop by???

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I woke up way too early this morning. Earlier than any other day this week, in fact.

Am grumpy.

Today I need to take my laptop to the Genius Bar, do art, plan a week's menu. That should be all.

Jesse, is there also nursing/attendants who stay with your father?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Just hanging out, watching the nifty hall costumes go by.

I don't think I can read more of the comments on John Scalzi's anti-harassment at cons policy. And, gladly, it's because they're all good and touching (he wields an unforgiving mallet). It's awful that it takes a guy taking a stance to shake things up properly, but then again, it's great that stances are being taken, no matter what gender does it. I hope for as much ripple through impact as possible, and as many assholes outing themselves as possible by criticising him for ruining their fun (there's a guy in the comments, actually, who is weirdly worried he'll need to stop flirting--sigh).

This "fake geek girl" stuff makes me unsurprisingly boil with anger, as does the "well, I was shoved in a locker ten years ago, so I have to make you miserable now. It's my right." line of argument.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We're getting geared up for a double header in not so beautiful downtown Ripon, CA. It's going to be high 90s and we're luckky we're missing temps over 100. This was our least-fun tourney last summer, so in a way it'll be good to get it over with first.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm waiting in Eneryville for my train to Chicago. I had a wonderful time (it was great seeing Buffistas!) and now I'm just exhausted. Looking forward to napping on the train.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Scalzi loves to swim in his own praise in general, so I can only read comments on his posts sporadically. I did post a longish comment to him (critical) of his most recent novel effort (the one released a week at a time through Amazon).

I am glad he has been prominent in his examination of privilege in general and on the matter of harassment specifically. He just stepped down as president of the SF writers association, an association which got some flak for having the same-old, same-old as finalists. Baby steps, though. The genre has more ground to cover but it would be nice if we could just stop women getting groped and propositioned in huge numbers.
