Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've no idea who Armand Hammer is.

He was some kind of industrialist, JD Rockefeller-style, and the great?grandfather of Armie.

People always asked Armand if he owned Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. He didn't, but he eventually bought it so people would stop making a big deal about it.

ION, the skirt I bought online arrived today, and it fits beautifully. Yay! I foresee an expansion of the wardrobe in my future. And maybe t-shirts that will fit over Hubby's belly.

Was that from Woman Within?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

People always asked Armand if he owned Arm & Hammer Baking Soda

He was named after the logo for the Socialist Labor Party. Whose logo is also the image in the center of Arm & Hammer's logo.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Have most people never heard of Armand Hammer?

As UnAmerican in residence, if I know it, Jesus fuck, everyone should--I knew there were at least three of them and a fuck of a fortune--enough to not mouth off stupid shit in public anyway, and enough to check the precise extent of the naming scheme. I am disappointed that he doesn't have a daughter named Armandine (or Armand--I'm down with that too) to be honest.

THE INTERNET PUTS FACTS AT OUR FINGERTIPS, but so many availed opportunities to talk rubbish anyway.

Someone also asked me why see The Heat if Sandra Bullock's character loosen's up and Melissa's gains more respect for authority. Well, I wouldn't bet on the latter, but even so, since when is there being information in the trailer a reason not to see it? Technically there's some crime to be solved, and he has no idea what that is, but the idea of getting a general emotional arc has ruined the movie for him.

Life must be boring to the omniscient / narrow-minded.

I just watched Varsity Blues--I feel a season or two of FNL prepped me adequately--and at least one guy is in both of them. I think it's great that the movie's hobbit moment belongs to the hugest guy on the cast. Especially since I think he should have died, really.

I had to resort to reading that aloud to get it. Sigh. Braindead.

I did not get it at all either. I was like 'Why, is Armand a funny name??"

It is. It's the perfect light-denim-color light-weight-but-not-gauze cotton mid-calf full skirt. And it has pockets! And an elastic waist with a drawstring. One more broomstick skirt should set me for summer.

edit: And I got it in Petite, because it can be hard to find things for short *and* fat.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

It took me FOREVER to figure out that FTW was For the Win and not some deliberate mixup of WTF, so I understand the feeling.

This reminds me of Adam Gopnik's story about IMing/texting with his son, and how for ages he thought LOL meant Lots of Love.

Mama Robin is sitting on her charges. Despite the flashlight shining on her. I'm gonna be waaaay too invested in these fledglings, I already know.

I've only bought a few things from them (a cotton nightshirt, a slinky black not-for-sleeping nightie, and yoga pants), so I wondered how their other clothing categories (skirts, tops) fared. Good to hear!
