By the way, when he went on his walk on Sunday, had he just taken off? Or was that a usual routine walk he'd take for himself and this time it just didn't work out?
He would go for a walk by himself a fair amount, I guess, but this time my mother was just downstairs for 45 minutes, and he took off. BTW, she did talk to EMS and found out exactly how and where they found him -- someone who had seen him on TV called 911.

It took me FOREVER to figure out that FTW was For the Win and not some deliberate mixup of WTF, so I understand the feeling.
Jesse, I don't know if you guys are at this point yet, but with my grandfather, they ended up installing an alarm on the door to alert them if he tried to go out by himself.

Oh, wow! I'm so glad the full alert worked! I'm never sure how these things turn out--I hope to never know again, because nothing like this need ever happen to anyone I know ever again, but still. Good job TV watcher! Good job TV alert! General good jobbing all around.
Jesse, maybe something with GPS on it? It's probably impossible to get him to take an iPhone everywhere, but the technology certainly exists.
