I have heard that fans facing out provide better airflow and cooling overall, but my experience this summer is I prefer to have the air blowing directly on me.

When it is nice out, I put a big fan in an upstairs window, blowing out on high, with all the other windows open. It works great. But my house was built for cross-ventilation. It has a (nonfunctional, currently) house fan.

Lots of stuff happened yesterday. I am tired, elated, hopeful, furious, and high on sleep dep, all at once. I'd go into detail but y'all have said everything I would have said already.

I just actually got upset at my BFF, for possibly the first time in my life, over discriminatory voter ID laws. She was of the opinion that everyone ought to be able to go get an ID so what's the big deal. I explained. Not quietly but thoroughly.

Ouch, sorry, Zen. I hope you both breathe deep and sleep on it and get past it (and that your BFF reconsiders, because voter ID laws are bullshit).

I am so dog-tired it took twenty minutes to compose the two sentences above. I spent today alternately checking the Internets for news and getting my FlyLady on with a vengeance. The shelves and drawers are purged and organized, a bag of Goodwill items is ready to go, another two or three huge bags went down to recycling, and the entire kitchen has been degreased from ceiling to, almost, floor (the floor looks like hell, but I'll deal with that tomorrow), bathtub is scrubbed, sink has been assaulted with an improvised coathanger-snake and baking soda/vinegar/boiling water (three times, no help, don't want to use Drano but not sure what else to try), kids are fed, and I feel kind of broken. Tomorrow, a hundred pages of copyediting or die trying. So, so tired.

If there is anyone around can they distract me with shiny things for a bit.

I'm having what I think are side effects of the medicine I've been taking and it's caused me to have an anxiety attack. I talked to the crisis counselor at my counseling center and he's going to call the on call psychiatrist, but right now I'm freaked out that I've developed a blood clot.

I realize this is highly unlikely but all I can think about is something happening and being alone.

So, anyone have shiny distractions?

Talked to the counselor, who talked to the doctor on call. And she said it's probably not the meds, it's not a go to ER now type thing, but ti's a call your doctor tomorrow and get an apointment.

Now I have to see if I can relax.

Not for another 3 hours my time (or, to get granular, 15 hours, as I was one of those weird rare midday babies), but thanks! I plan to spend it by either destroying or invoking the serial comma. I'm too tired right now to remember which side I'm on in that dispute.
