Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So did anyone else in Chicago get an emergency alert for flooding on their iPhone this morning? It sounds just like the emergency broadcasting noise they play on the radio. I got one around 5:00 a.m. and I didn't know what the noise was and where it was coming from so I went back to sleep. Then I got one in my car-my iPhone played the noise over my car stereo while I was driving to work, so at first I thought I was hearing the emergency broadcast noise on the radio.

Then my boss asked me about it so I finally figured out what happened.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I was not ready to come into the office. Mother FUCKER. It's not ten yet.

I saw a therapist yesterday. My file now officially includes "not drugseeking, not suicidal". Technically that's all I needed from her, but she's willing to work with me on coping techniques--her specialty is people in chronic pain, of which I am a textbook example, it seems. Depressed because shit is depressing, prone to taking too big steps, failing, stopping. However the lights are on in my apartment. Only because of the drawing, though. Otherwise they'd be off like everyone else.

So, a couple times a month.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

So did anyone else in Chicago get an emergency alert for flooding on their iPhone this morning?

A non-Buffista friend in Chicago posted about that on FB today. ("Avoid flooded areas," he said. "YOU THINK?!?")

ION, you know how I left work yesterday because I threw up AT WORK? Like, in the kitchen of our office? A grand total of 2 people asked me how I'm feeling today. Nice.

t edit Kinda don't feel bad AT ALL that they're not invited to the wedding.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I suspect your coping skills are pretty damn good, ita, but it never hurts to review them with someone who is up on the subject and may have some ways to touch them up or try other approaches. And yeah, the "not-drug-seeking" on your record (and a professional to contact to back you up) may be a positive, alas.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Delaying my trip to see my folks because I cannot turn my head left without pain, which won't be conducive to changing lanes on the highway or merging with traffic. Went to see the chiropractor twice (went home to ice and heat compress in between). I feel sooo much better, but the deep tissue massage means that I'm going to be sore as fuck now.

Good news is that means I won't have to spend the entirety of Thursday with my older brother.

ION, I tested the strength of an orchard spider that made a home between the driver's door of my car and the side mirror. 44mph was all it could take before it bailed at 45.

AWESOME news on Prop 8 and DOMA, I really had absolutely no positive expectations on either front.

eta I'm not sure what to make of my two typos where I spelt home as hope. It's definitely not a freudian slip, with all the anxiety I have about how cranky visiting my family makes me. Except that maybe I was rooting for the spider and I'm hoping I don't end up losing mine.

So did anyone else in Chicago get an emergency alert for flooding on their iPhone this morning?

I kept getting Amber alerts. It scared the shit out of me the first time. Now I have turned it off.

Because books.

You're getting emergency flooding alerts on your iPhones? We are seriously living in the future.

I saw a therapist yesterday.

Anything that helps, right?

Kinda don't feel bad AT ALL that they're not invited to the wedding.

Kinda? Try all the way not bad. Hope you feel better today.

This map of how US states have evolved on domestic partnerships and marriage equality is pretty cool: [link]

eta: But I didn't know how many states have enacted a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
