I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

DOMA is unconstitutional as a deprivation of the equal liberty of persons that is protected by the Fifth Amendment.

Oh, hell yeah!

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Not so sure about the Australian news: is that good or bad?

I'm happy about it, though I doubt it'll make much difference - I still expect the government to be emphatically voted out at our next election (currently scheduled for September, though it might be earlier now). It might, however, avoid a rout and leave us with a possibly functional opposition.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I've got to say the SCOTUS has been giving me whiplash with their decisions lately.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I googled "gay". What's supposed to happen?

On the federal vs. state recognition of marriage, I know that same-sex couples who are legally married still couldn't file joint federal taxes, which is obviously ridiculous.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

If I recall correctly, Glam was married before Prop 8 was enacted, so she was never not married.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Prop 8 didn't invalidate existing marriages, right?
