I will think on it, Lee.
Eta: I used to be able to wear heels without pain, but last time I tried just wearing a pair that used to be comfortable around the house I had pain within 20 minutes. And those were not high or narrow. I haven't quite convinced myself to get rid of my cute heels though, because they are really cute and maybe I can train myself to wear them again...
Hey, if someone was going to be in New Orleans for a weekend in September, and wanted to go somewhere warm and relaxing before or after, does anyone have any suggestions for where that should be?
Destin, Florida, is a 4-hour drive from NOLA, and has fantastic white sand beaches. I think the airport is Ft. Walton Beach. MAYBE. It's been a long time since I've been down there.
He was great in Get Shorty, which I love.
We shared a birthday...I always thought that was cool.
A lot of cruises leave port in NO. I never took one, I'm not sure where they go, if any would be a a suitable length, etc., but that might be worth looking into.
Biloxi is a pretty short drive for beaches and casinos.
I didn't know y'all shared a birthday, erika, that is cool.
Today has sucked balls. To the point where even whiskey isn't going to help. I may have completely fractured my relationship with K-Bug, there was a speaker at the ARP meeting tonight - parent of a 3 year old kid who got lost and was never found, and then CJ and I had cross words plus my foot feels worse. I just want to hide in my room for the next couple of months.
Rats, Chicago won in overtime.

I haven't been myself, but a former co-worker loved the place and used to travel there all the time for vacation. Clearwater Beach on the Gulf Coast is pretty nice too: [link]
Atlanta?
This is definitely a contender.
eta: SO is Destin.
I did it backwards -- many years ago a bunch of us went to Destin for vacation and in the middle of the week drove to NOLA for a night. In August. In retrospect, it *could* have been hotter. But only if we were actively engulfed in flames.
