He had the writing to back him, but it was truly a revolutionary performance; one of the greatest ever filmed. And because he was so good and could anchor that show, television drama was fundamentally changed. TV could play a long game, and unspool like a novel. With that much depth.
He gave some excellent movie performances (I particularly liked him in Get Shorty and True Romance), but 95% of what he'll be known for is Tony Soprano.
