well, it had to happen some time, I suppose. I don't blame the messenger ;)

Did I share the story here about seeing a young woman with a shaved head in the 80s and smiling at her and thinking "wow, so does every white girl who cuts off all her hair look like Sinead O'Connor?" and then realizing, oh! that's Sinead O'Connor.
That's fantastic.
Back in the 80s I saw a girl with a shaved head hanging out with her buddies with spikes and mohawks etc. I was studying the shape of her head, and she strutted up and said, "What are you staring at?" I smiled at her and said, "You have a lovely skull." She blinked and hurried back to her friends, whispered to them, they gave me antsy looks, and scurried away.
Really, it was perfectly shaped. OK, so Silence of the Lambs had come out the year before, so what?
She's so wee, Jesse. Or rather, she was back then. I saw her recently on Jools Holland and she now looks like a woman in her 40s, still lovely but much more solid.
OK, I should go get biscuits started as I promised DH I'd make some for dinner.
I'm in a mood, it seems. The apartment is a mess. I made dinner and CJ still isn't home. I don't want to call KCD cause he is being a dick about paying his share of non-child support costs. Normally I spend some of each Sunday with K-Bug but that didn't happen today for unclear reasons. I did get out for a while with a friend but my foot is maxed out. Which means the house isn't getting clean since I need to elevate it for a while. So, lonely, frustrated, in pain, tired.

Tonight's experiment in pepper preparation is working out a lot better for me. Probably I should just always roast peppers before I do anything else with them. It doesn't make them delicious, but it does make them taste a lot less toxic.
You are braver than me with peppers -t. I don't like them raw or cooked. I'm not one who typically picks apart my food except when it comes to peppers. I want to like them. Just haven't found a preparation that makes them palatable.
Happy birthday, askye.
That sucks, Suzi.

I find this to be true as well. Although roasted enough and I do begin to actually like them a bit. Raw or cooked sans char, I dislike them.
Roasting, taking off the skin, and getting rid of every speck of seed seems to get them to the point where I can mix them with other strong flavors and not mind them so much. I treat tomatoes similarly, but they sweeten up more - I actually like tomato sauce.
One of the times I visited LA before moving out here I was sitting in a sidewalk cafe, staring at this guy thinking "What a shame, having to look so much like Kenny Loggins..." At which point I realised a) Los Angeles b) the rest of what comes with being Kenny Loggins.
I've been told I have a good skull for my haircut, but...it was pretty much going to be this haircut anyway. I got off lucky.
I actually have seen and met white and Asian women with shaved heads
I'm thinking I've seen disproportionately more Asian women with it, actually. Or I could be having a Shimizu-moment. Which is all good. I saw Eve Salvail in person once, and Jesus--emulate her, be intimidated by her...who the fuck knows? She was just dysfunctionally gorgeous, and more so with the super short hair. Lord have mercy.
I was just reading another "they're not all that without the makeup" posts, and...you can go too far with those. There's a point at which you've clearly caught them on a bad day from a bad angle during a bad mood in the middle of a random motion. Yes, most of them are not as gorgeous as their press would have you think. But they also don't all show up for work looking like those photos. Do those articles really help?
I'm just glad that I'm not living on Long Island anymore and subjected to those matching velour track suits
I was just noticing that the women at the Wholefoods near work seem to be wearing the most expensive (well, not LA expensive--Lululemon, the like) but pristine exercise clothes. They just look...shiny, and not in a sweaty way.
I guess the 90s is now signaled by flannel/Grunge
Is it really that narrow? That has no crossover into business or formal or...well, most things. As opposed to shoulder pads in the 80s which were pervasive.
Did not know about Kim K either. I wish her good foot recuperation--saw some awfully uncomfortable looking pictures of pregnancy edema stuffed into stiletto sandals.
I am grumpy about the homework I turned in for the art class today: [link] That's the back of the envelope, made to "suggest" (code for hammer home with an anvil) opening the love letter is akin to opening your heard. Is the difference between art and pictures the amount of bullshit I am supposed to have poured into it?
