So, how was your summer? Mine was fun. Saw some fish. Went mad with hunger. Hallucinated a whole bunch.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have a particular Tazo tea I like, Wild Sweet Orange. Though it seems to taste better at my morher's house than mine, perhaps because she brews by the pot while I do a cup at a time.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Hey, remember the Splenda Incident? [link]

This morning I woke up to discover that Bubba decided that the Costco size box of (thankfully clean) cat litter was even more fun than the Splenda.

There was more of it, after all.

That almost makes sense. Good ol' Bubba.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I'm guessing the litter is cheaper and probably a little easier to clean up, but being forced to clean up anything in the morning is not on. Maybe Bubba needs a ball pit.

So I'm sitting at my desk a few minutes ago, checking email and I hear a knock on a door across the hall and someone shouting "Do you have pants on yet?"

And now they're playing Gangnam Style. My workplace is not like other offices.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I could work there. If the pants are optional.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I got all the way to work and realized I had left my oven on. This is what I get for trying to do things like cook in the morning.

That made me go check my oven and I haven't even cooked this morning.

My new favorite GIF.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Morning, Buffistas.

You are the kind of daughter that your mother would be proud of if she was in her right mind.

Well, if she were in her right mind she wouldn't need to be in this kind of assisted living, so presumably the situation wouldn't have come up. But thank you Theodosia, and Laura, too. My dad will do better, I think: he sounded quite good on the phone last night. But for all I know we'll spend the next year with Mom hating us. ::shrugs:: I'll live.

I don't know, though: we're helping Dad at the price of Mom's peace of mind, even though (a) she didn't have much to begin with; and (b) her physical health is likely to improve. It does feel a bit as though we did betray her: we knew she wouldn't want to be in assisted living, although we didn't expect quite this level of terror. And it is terror, not just upset at the change.

Anyway, I slept fine last night, which was a nice change. Although I actually lost weight over the last week--I think I must be the only person who can actually lose weight (unintentionally) over Thanksgiving. And I cut back on the alcohol because it wasn't doing me much good and probably disrupting my sleep...

I need something good to talk about -- oh, yes. My oldest niece is going to attend arguments at the Supreme Court next week! She works for an environmental group that has a Clean Water Act case being argued. And this weekend she's going to call me to talk about the issues in the case.

Backstage, pants are always optional. We do get a chill from the loading dock though.

Did I mention mac's awesome school stuff?

You did not.
