I marked that post for future reference, Andi, for when I inevitably get another cat. That's hugely useful information.
Natter 71: Someone is wrong on the Internet
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
It is years of hard experience and learning with Harvey, Anne. May your future cat(s) enjoy years of better health because of the increased nutritional value of your food choices. Sadly many vets and vet techs only know about pet nutrition what they have been taught at seminars sponsored by Iams or Hill's.
Speaking of muscle meats, I'm reading Gulp by Mary Roach and she points out, from a carnivore/omnivore perspective, it's much better to eat organ meats since they have more nutrition to offer than just protein. She mentions that in animals in the wild, they do eat organ meats for the two-fer aspect of eating the animal and whatever the other animal had eaten.
Sorry to be gross so early in the morning.
Ari Shapiro = ROWR.
A friend yarn bombed my classroom. It freaked me out.
Is that like TPing, only stringier?
I have to say, staying with my dad is WAY less stressful when I don't also have to run home twice a day to give my cat pills.
Someone just gave me the slogan "Spend it on your pet, not on the vet" with regards to higher quality food.
Our pets don't need to eat as well as we do...especially when is cost is an issue...but they should not eat the garbage that manufacturers use to inflate their profits.
And, as Andi said, some foods are just penny-wise and pound-foolish.
Cagney is in 'lockdown timeout' right now and I'm furious. We walked out of the house for our morning walk after some calm cuddles. He saw an Irish Setter across the street and wanted to say hello, so I obliged. When we got there, both the dog and the non-English speaking au pair walking him were shocked when Cagney jumped the other dog, snapping and growling.
No damage was done, except to nerves, but I'm beside myself. I simply cannot abide that behavior.
He's been so much calmer lately and there were absolutely no signs that this was going to be a problem meeting...and I generally know and avoid anything where he could be a jerk.
I just...
Oh, here's a nice thing: At Christmas, I bought this book that you're supposed to give to your dad to write stuff about his life. Obviously, my dad can't do that, but I hoped that I might be able to ask him the prompt questions and come up with something. It's worked more or less well at different times, but we had some extra time this morning, so I pulled it out and we had a really nice conversation about his father. And I could edit it into some good stuff to write in this book! I'm glad I can take his half-sentences and false starts and turn them into something.
I used to feed my cat Tiki Cat which comes in smaller cans so that you can feed a can a day.
I'll have to say that getting old and infirm is actually what made my cat lose weight. I can't recommend that.
That's great to hear, Jesse.
My lamb shank fits in the crockpot, hooray! I wasn't sure how that would work out, but now dinner is all set.
That sounds awesome Jesse--know the name? I feel bad I don't know more about my dad's stuff.

I read this in relation to the organ meats, not the yarn bombing, and was envisioning intestines everywhere.
I got up and ran this morning! I mean, for like 3 minutes at a time for about a total of 8 minutes but still. Better than none.
