Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Weather's been in the 90s for most of the week, and is forecast to be the same through the weekend. Of course. This weekend is the Washington Folk Festival, which is mostly outdoors.

Our wings are not tired.

The weather is completely wacky. The forecast for great swathes of the country is for temperatures higher than here. That almost never happens. Although the 90 we have forecast is plenty.

Art Crawl!!!

We're under a tornado watch. I have a co-worker who is Polish and listens to Polish radio at her desk. Oddly enough the weather in Poland today was also rainy and windy.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I found a pdf of a total of dog attacks, by breed, in the US & Canada from 1982-2009.

[link]

The usual suspects aren't surprising, except for just how many attacks they involve. What gets me is the 1 reported Pomerian attack. I would love more details about that.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

You just know Pomeranian attacks are underreported.

information libertarian

I knew a victim in one of those fatal attacks; she was a coworker at UGA. (See the notes, under Dobermans. She was walking her dog on their country road and was killed by a pack of dogs someone had abandoned at a local house; her husband came looking for her in their car and was killed also. They loved animals and had about 12 rescued pets themselves.)

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Oh, God, flea, how awful.

I haven't said anything until now, but I've been vibing for all possible peace and ease and closure to Suela, her mom, and all her family since last night.

Our wings are not tired.

It's a fascinating and eye-opening list.

Cayenne was attacked by a pit bull at our favorite park last year and I am still not over my (since then) fear that's going to happen again. The pit didn't break her skin, so it did not mean business, but it was terrifying nonetheless. The owner was an old white guy who took absolutely no responsibility and was nonchalant about the whole thing. I was FAR more upset with him than with his dog.
