Clearly I need to go investigate Smitten Kitchen.
It calls for two cups of sugar (1 white, 1 brown). That's nuts (don't--just don't)!
How many cookies does it make. My chocolate chip cookie recipe calls for two cups of sugar, but makes close to 5 dozen cookies.
The only time I tried a smitten kitchen recipe I found it terribly bland, so I kind of wrote her off.
I have been asked by two different people in the last two days to be a guarantor for their passport. I wanted to go for a long walk this afternoon but instead I waited for the passport office to call me back. Finally I ended up calling them back but it took three calls to get the person to answer her phone. But friend is guaranteed now, and I can stop stressing about missing the call.
Also, I seem to have lost my baking mojo. The last batch of chocolate chip cookies I threw out because they tasted wrong. This batch tastes great, but they flattened like little pancakes and have attached on the pan. I am trying to make them for someone I don't really know...so it would be nice if they resembled a half-decent cookie.
Oh PMS where everything is horrible and goes horribly.
that waffle recipe is whispering in my ear.
urgently.
Thanks for reminding me about this site. I am going to make a strawberry basil balsamic pie for a dinner party on Friday, and SK's strawberry rhubarb pie recipe will be a good starting point. The balsamic syrup will provide the tanginess that the rhubarb provided.
Smitten Kitchen on chocolate cake
Making a cake for a chocolate fanatic? You can pretty much skip the frosting, as nothing will make their eyes roll back in their head more than a simple ganache, made simply by melting some bittersweet chocolate with a glug heavy cream. Pour it over the cake and watch it dribble. Try and fail not to lick the bowl
The text is accurate.
OK, now I have a cooking question. I guess I'm going to make chili with the ground beef I currently have defrosting, but I don't have any pink beans, which I would normally put in chili. I do have black and white beans. Which to use? I would make something different, but I have pretty much no ingredients in the house.
