Riley: Oh, yeah. Sorry 'bout last time. Heard I missed out on some fun. Xander: Oh yeah, fun was had. Also frolic, merriment and near-death hijinks.

Our wings are not tired.

I don't like cake. My mother always came up with alternatives for my birthday. Don't like cupcakes either, because cake. Love fruit, and many fruit breads, and pie if not too sweet. The boys have never developed a taste for cakes either since they never had them at home. And now you know my deep dark secret.

Chocolate and candy is another matter altogether. Although I can live without it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

DH and I have been watching LotR all weekend for his book after the kids go to bed. Lesson learned - RotK is way too long a movie to start watching at 9pm if you have kids which will wake you up at 7 the next morning. So I'm letting them watch Rise of the Turtles for about the twentieth time while I lounge on the sofa and think about coffee.

We had talked about biking down to Coney Island today, but I think that might be a little too ambitious on 5 hours of sleep.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I could go for pie now.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

So I'm letting them watch Rise of the Turtles for about the twentieth time while I lounge on the sofa and think about coffee.

I am envisaging this as a live-action film version of Yertle the Turtle.

hip deep in pie

There is nothing sadder than discovering a lovely cake all covered I chocolate icing is not actually chocolate cake.

Last week, I kept trying to convince myself that despite everything, I was lucky to have a job that's especially taxingl, well paying, time off up the yin yang, pretty good benefits. Today, the thought of having to go back to work tomorrow is making want to flee to the airport and get a ticket on the first plane leaving the continent. Everyone I work with is counting the days until they retire. I mean that literally. (my coworker Debbie has 123 working days left until she retires.) It terrible we're all so miserable.

That was ...weird. I think the first half mile was fueled by nothing but caffeine.

And apparently Loki is conditioned to think that me home from the pool=food. Even when it is at 9:45AM, not 7pm.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, that is terrible, Sue.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm proud, I got in my 2 miles this morning and finished up 3.25 yesterday despite hitting it off with a promising guy on a dating site at 10pm. (Interrupted our chat for a 20 minute walk and he was still waiting to banter when I got back, which is practically unheard of online.) Makes me feel better about calling my lake/beach excursion today on account of sunburn.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

That is terrible. Is it shameful to admit that each year, I number a posit note from 1-180 and I count down the days starting on the first. Maybe next year I'll add the year to. 25.1-25.180. That's a little too depressing though.

Also, B is the only correct answer. C would be chocolate-covered cake.

I just spent the last half hour taming ivy in the front and my head sweats so damned much. It's like I dunked it. OK, now to deal with the back ivy. And then possibly actually dunk my head. It's not even that hot out!
