The doctors are delaying surgery for whatever reason, and have forbid her from going into work where all the dirt is.

I know this one! Lawn mower injuries are very, very dirty injuries. When I injured my foot the docs planned 3 surgeries - 2 to clean the wounds and 1 to stitch me up. I lucked out in that I was healing up well enough that they decided to stitch me up in the 2nd surgery. I also had a cocktail of 3 different antibios during my 5 days in the hospital.

Man, I am working my local Aveda salon so hard -- in December, I bought my grandmother some lotions for Christmas, and got a $25 gift card free with purchase. At some other point in the winter, I got a pedicure when they were offering a free mani, so didn't use the gift card that time. I was supposed to get a pedi this weekend, but the nail tech was sick, so they rescheduled me for tonight, and it was free! So I'm going to in yet one more time to finally use the card, and will have ended up getting three pedis and one mani for the price of 1.5 pedis. And then I will never go there again, because their shit is expensive!

So, y'all, I do not understand how DFI employment works. I came home to two "employment inquiries" in my mail, saying I was successful in my examination (one saying I was rank 4 (out of 23 if I am reading this right) like I thought (but I guess that's okay for some reason?) and one saying I'm rank 3 (out of 7, no clue how that works, I know I only took one exam)) and now I can submit an application for, uh, five open positions. I better look into exactly what those are. And decide if I am serious about considering employment in LA.
