That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Thanks, all.

Kate, wow. I'm impressed with the possibility of weekend meetings.

I guess they really want to hire somebody quickly? I figured if he wanted to talk to me, he'd want to do it soon, but I wasn't quite expecting *that* soon.

(Still no response to my email, by the way...)

In Australia, many things are freaky deaky: [link]

Holy shit.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yay Dana's mom on the health front, and yay Kate on the job~ma!

I pretty much thought EVERYONE was pretty so it didn't seem special or anything--just the normal state of being for a kid.

I didn't think that when I was kid, but I sure do think that way now. They are all beautiful. But I've always said that humans are a surprisingly attractive species.

Once I hit puberty and pudged out and got awkward, I actually looked at myself in comparison to others and felt like a hideous monster, which, honestly, I kinda still do.

Now there I'm going to have to disagree with you. Strongly. It's such a rotten thing that, right as we hit adolescence and have to deal with acne and what not, we start to care deeply about our looks.

Yay last day msbelle and yay good scans Dana's mom and yay job-ma for Kate!

As for me, I'm harrassing My Nemesis for status updates on projects and worrying about not having a job offer yet. And about my folks.

... I had no idea how much I was going to miss my life circa 2009. GAH.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Am I right that those Australia pics are from January?

The article is, anyway.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Wow, you can time lapse 30 years on Google Maps. It is fascinating. The interactive map is at the end of the article if you want to skip straight there.

Yeah. I just went back and reread journal entries and there was massive stress that year but it still seems sepia-tinted and awesome from where I am standing now.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Just troubleshot a student's cigar box guitar and got it working, whoot! One mistake was his (he'd reversed the legs on the potentiometer) and one was mine (I didn't see that the jack had two legs instead of one, so I had him soldering the hot lead to the ground). But it's fixed and working and sounds great now! He did a good job.

I have other students whose guitars I'm going to have to finish, because I've just run out of time. I really wish I could get them to do it, but I also want them to walk away with their guitars, and we only have one more session this year.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's such a cool project, Liese!

... I had no idea how much I was going to miss my life circa 2009.

That looks like a road I don't want to head down.
