I've been out of the abbey two days, I've beaten a lawman senseless, I've fallen in with criminals. I watched the captain shoot the man I swore to protect. And I'm not even sure if I think he was wrong.

Our wings are not tired

He is also thinking about hiring someone for 40 hours a week to do costumes during the day hours next spring (and pay them 2x what I make) WITH ME SUPERVISING THEM.

Maybe you should just apply for that job, work half the year and make the same money.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Losing comics is a very...it was a maturing process for me. There's no way to get back all of what I had like that--the Camelot 3000, the Longshot minis--it doesn't matter how much they cost from a loss of $$ perspective, because you weren't going to sell it. And how can you find them to buy back????

Lots of deep breaths, some railing at circumstance, and judicious purchase of graphic novels.

Why does growing up hurt??? Because the other stuff is just living. Growing up is the stuff that makes you come to terms with not getting what you want.

This is the opposite of Good Stuff, and is awful growing up: Elizabeth Smart on how abstinence education contributed to her victimhood (I use that term carefully, and if you have abduction or abuse triggers, spare yourself).

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh no! Steph, you earwormed me!

Hell yeah!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Maybe you should just apply for that job, work half the year and make the same money.

Hee! I would if I didn't already have a full time job that pays me 8 times what that would be!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I just saw an ad for FarmersOnly.com, a dating site aimed at farmers and ranchers.

I see that ad kind of a lot. I also had sheep wandering in the ditch on the side of the road for part of my commute this morning, so...draw your own conclusions.

In that case, Sophia, maybe he should double your pay for the supervisor position, and pay the other person what you're getting now.

Ugh. I remember similar stuff from the freak-ass church: nonmarried sex is baaaaaad, because then you won't have the "gift of purity" to offer your spouse. (They actually were pretty hardline about the same standards applying to men, so it wasn't just the idea of a woman's spoiled purity. So, uh, points to them for their broad-based messed-up thinking.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Shit. I gave away my gift of purity more than 30 years ago in my parents' Mercury Marquis.

It's funny, but I was considering remaining a virgin until I got married, but once presented with the opportunity for sex, I forgot all about that.
