I put up the new patio umbrella that I ordered over Amazon and have dubbed it the Shademaker 2000. Next step is the screen-tent-thing that I bought to hang off it so that I have the equivalent of a little screen house where I can hide from the mosquitos and so on.
I may be unemployed but damn am I going to do it in style....
From the NYT:
he police had been called two times to a house where three young women from Cleveland, who disappeared about a decade ago and who friends and relatives feared were gone forever, were found on Monday, the authorities said on Tuesday.
Is it wrong that I'd rather they had said "twice" than "two times"? Is twice too difficult a word for NYT readers?
that is some good times
Isn't it fun! Now that Leverage is done, it's our best source of heist/caper TV, and I like the characters and enjoy the emotional stakes.
Plus, seriously, HOW HOT ARE THEY????
sumi, I can't even say why exactly, but just plain "twice" reads to me a little like possibly two calls in a row or two calls about the same incident, but "two times" makes it more clear that it really was two separate occasions.
I am trying to think about my reaction to the Cleveland stuff. I am thrilled that the 3 women are alive and relatively healthy and dismayed at what they have gone through over the past 10 years.
I don't know what to think about the police being called to the house and turning away. We don't want our privacy rights violated by having a funky neighbor call and then our house is violated, but on the other hand, after the report of a naked woman in the backyard, couldn't they have interviewed all the neighbors, made a concerted effort to contact the owner of the house, and brought him in for brief questioning?
Diane ups the Hot factor by about 10 and it was already plenty hot.
I still never saw all of Leverage. I am taping reruns off some channels and so far they have all been things I have seen before, but I am hoping soon that I will hit new ones. I love capers.
I am purposely not reading anything yet on the Cleveland stuff. I think I am going to be hugely freaked out. I never did read up on the Elizabeth Smart stuff.
I keep up on shit like this, and even I am skeeved out by the details thus far. You need to give it a wide wide berth.
Timelies all!
Glad your mom's surgery went well, Dana.
It's raining here. Again. It's also on the cool side. Who would have thought we'd get an extended April, instead of the May we were expecting?
The Cleveland thing is so weird. I can't imagine how no one knew they were there for ten years, and what happened yesterday to give the one woman a chance to get out.
Today was awful, for values of awful that include no one dying or sick or houses burning. Two people got fired, one totally justly, and the other not at all, and the atmosphere in the office is essentially "hunched over, waiting for the next blow."
But that was MY day. Stephen had a great job interview and is going back for a second, and Sara loved the Friends school where she'll probably go next year (my mom works there). Yay.
This is the first chance I've had to open the board since first thing this morning.
