Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yay Nora!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Nora, that must be a hell of an exhalation you had building up there! Let it out, let it all out!

Yay Nora!

Oh, god, this is a debacle. Screaming and crying, and Dad can't withstand her.

Because books.

Consuela, can they give her something? Ativan or Xanax? I'm sorry this is so hard. I hope after a few days she's going to settle in, for everyone's sake.

Congratulations, Nora!

ita, I had assumed Tom Cruise pursued the Jack Reacher books, too. Mostly because I think he wants roles with a really masculine, heroic edge, and also because I can't stand him so I always assume the worst. And when it comes to the author's approval, I think Lee Child is probably savvy enough to know that bad-mouthing the casting isn't going to win him any friends in the industry, where he could potentially make a lot more money.

This. Also especially because its a series, so in theory if the movie does well it could be a cash cow for years.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think there's a lot less actor pursuing the role than you might otherwise guess. It's not an efficient use of time, unless the actor in question has an active production company of their own, and even then I think we still overestimate. There's a reporting bias, I guess, because "I wanted to play Jesus for years, and I was shopping this script to everyone" makes a good soundbite, and we just don't hear the stories of the hundreds of popular movies where someone's people called their people or they just auditioned amongst others.

also because I can't stand him so I always assume the worst

And there is certainly that.

The writer's quote is impossible to parse accurately with just that information. Some writers would bitch, some would not, and there's no way I can tell anything from this distance other than "publicly on board" so that's why it's all I said.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Yay Nora!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I imagine Cruise just got cast as Reacher, so I don't blame him -- I blame everyone else.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Congrats on the Great Unburdening, Nora!
