Frank, I'm so glad you're okay, but I'm so sorry to hear about your landlord.

Frank, how awful. I'm so sorry, and I'm glad you're safe.
Jesus, Frank. That's just chilling. I am so glad you made it out. I'm sorry about your landlord.
I am so sorry for the awfulness, Frank, even while being very glad you made it out.
Oh, Frank, How awful. I hope you get a place to call home very soon.
Frank,
How terrible. I am so sorry and good vibes coming your way for dealing with what is ahead. I am so glad you are safe.
Frank, thank god for those passersby. I'm exceedingly glad you got out safely, and I'm terribly sorry about your landlord. But it's wonderful you can salvage at least some of your stuff, and that you have an interim place to stay, and good prospects for a new home. So glad you're here to be appreciated, you know?
How utterly terrible, Frank. All my good thoguhts and wishes to you, and I'm so very sorry about your landlord. I've had one late-night house fire and they're absolutely terrifying even when no one is harmed, but this is so much worse. I'm so glad you've got friends to take you in until you figure out what to do next. And, yes, most of your stuff and probably all your clothing and books can be cleaned and un-smoked, and if you had renter's insurance or the landlord had any insurance that covered the contents of the house, not just his own personal property, you may be able to get help paying for it.
(Which doesn't lessen the awfulness of the whole thing, but even one tiny how-do-I-manage-this/what-do-I-do stressor gone helps.)
Holy shit, Frank, I can't even imagine. What a nightmare. I'm so deeply relieved that you're OK, and so terribly sorry about your landlord.
That's awful, Frank. I'm glad you survived, and condolences for your landlord. In addition to the other excellent advice you're getting, I suggest you look into post traumatic stress counseling.
