I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I somehow managed not to set the two alarms I wake up to. Thankfully my boss took a day off, so I texted the ED to let him know I'd be late, and he was all "yay! Me too!" What a world of difference. So I get in an hour and half late (seriously, I slept until 8:30! When I have a day off my body makes me wake up at 6:30 with no hope of getting back to sleep). And then I swear I spent 3/4's of the day chatting with people (staff, visitors, contractors) and felt like I'd gotten nothing done. It got to the point where a photographer started chatting with me and he apologized for monopolizing my time and I just had to wave him off and explain that at that point the whole day was a wash, so let's keep kabitzing.

I gave a five minute driving lesson to our 16 y/o Korean intern, which was hilarioulsy awful. I had to grab the steering wheel of the mule and then made her promise not to tell my boss. She's so great, I wish she didn't have to go home and hope she is able to work out her student visa so she can come back. We're going to Magic Fountain tomorrow to celebrate her last day with icecream.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

If I don't see rice available as a side, that means it just comes with everything right? I'm trying to order Indian food without talking to anybody, because it is just that kind of night.

I recently realized that all of these animal cams are the actual manifestation of the Puppy Channel, of This American Life fame (?)!

I've had the same thought! Dude was ahead of his time.

Yay for awesome interview, Scrappy!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay, Scrappy!

I would guess so, Jess.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Woooo, Scrappy!

That sounds right, Jess.

Things crossed, Scrappy!

Motley colored kittens I don't need to see! I've got my own (though she's more defined: [link] )

Man, Devi's absence is loud and palpable. P & L greet me at the door too, but Dev & I had a routine. And she'd always yammer away about her day (me. Me! MEEEE! Trill whirr meee!) and wait for me to carry her to the food dish. For 16 years. Minus 4 months. Lokes and the Pumpk aren't as conversational (unless they want something.) I miss it.

Aw, Sara, I'm sorry.

Of course, now Loki is all over me in his typical fashion, crawling up my body and flopping tight against me, tucking his head into my neck in a bid for petting. He can't read, but apparently can read me.

brillig

Fewer things are as lovely as Shadow demanding to be picked up and then slamming his head against your shoulder to demand power cuddling.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Sorry, sara.
