I recently realized that all of these animal cams are the actual manifestation of the Puppy Channel, of This American Life fame (?)!

Those multi-colored cats are gorgeous. Their coloring looks like a painting that got wet.
Walter is waking up and fine, minus three teeth. He'll get canned food only for a while, so he'll be happy with the outcome.
Good luck, Dana!
As for me, I had a conversation today I dearly wish could have taken place three years ago, in which I laid out all the myriad problems with the way my program is managed by the agency, and the way the funding process hampers it and how we need to focus on management and engagement and partnership. And these senior managers were very kind and thankful and it sounds like lots of what I think are good ideas will be implemented.
There's even a chance My Nemesis might be edged slowly out of her leech-like hold on the program.
And I won't be here to see it. And that just guts me. So fucking unfair.
Aw, Walter!
And I won't be here to see it. And that just guts me. So fucking unfair.
That really sucks. I'm sorry.
Safe travels, Dana!!
Consuela, that place is a mess, and I am confident you will be greatly appreciated in your next job.
Scrappy Sparky, congratulations on your DH's Geneva job!
Consuela, I'm sorry the senior managers didn't listen to you earlier.
That's great that you got to have that conversation, Consuela. I hope they do take it to heart, even if you aren't there to see things improve.
Calli, Sparky's DH is the one going to Geneva. At least as far as I know. gives side eye to husband
ION, the ~ma was good today. My job interview went REALLY WELL. Like, the hiring person was ready to hire me on the spot. Next up is an interview with the COO and company owner sometime next week.
I somehow managed not to set the two alarms I wake up to. Thankfully my boss took a day off, so I texted the ED to let him know I'd be late, and he was all "yay! Me too!" What a world of difference. So I get in an hour and half late (seriously, I slept until 8:30! When I have a day off my body makes me wake up at 6:30 with no hope of getting back to sleep). And then I swear I spent 3/4's of the day chatting with people (staff, visitors, contractors) and felt like I'd gotten nothing done. It got to the point where a photographer started chatting with me and he apologized for monopolizing my time and I just had to wave him off and explain that at that point the whole day was a wash, so let's keep kabitzing.
I gave a five minute driving lesson to our 16 y/o Korean intern, which was hilarioulsy awful. I had to grab the steering wheel of the mule and then made her promise not to tell my boss. She's so great, I wish she didn't have to go home and hope she is able to work out her student visa so she can come back. We're going to Magic Fountain tomorrow to celebrate her last day with icecream.
