I wanna die in bed surrounded by fat grandchildren, but guess that's off the menu.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Anyone know of regional delicacies in Jefferson City Mo

Seconding Ginger's barbecue recommendation, with the extra detail of being sure to find a place that does a good pork steak.

Also, this may be more of a St. Louis thing than a Missouri thing, but gooey butter cake is a regional specialty. It is about as healthy for you as it sounds.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

That close to Kansas City, wouldn't beef barbecue be the surer bet?

I'm drawing a blank on uniquely Missourian delicacies other than the aforementioned gooey butter cake, but sweet tea is a big thing here in the South and worth trying.

Because books.

The bakery here has butter cake, and it looks really sinful.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Oh sarameg, I am so sorry.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Because maybe we could use it:

What's the last thing that made you smile unexpectedly?

For me it was coming home to find a bag of oranges from my neighbor on my porch.

And to round out the evening, some jackass tried to mug my friend in front of my house right before 9 (she often parks there, for safety reasons-namely she knows I am home and quick on the 911 trigger.) She screamed every sort of bad word at him and he ran away. I met her halfway up my walk just as she connected to 911 and I'd dialed 9-1.

Cops admired Pumpkin, who was quite showing off, and then we took a trip to the station to talk to detectives.

For the record, she's planning on parking in front of my house from here on out. She was composing a parking yelp review for my security response time while we were waiting.

Also, post-cry face at a police station gets you a lot of concerned queries. I felt like writing on the chalkboard behind me MY CAT IS DEAD. Except I couldn't find any chalk.

This fucking day.

brillig

Hugs to all cats and their people. And all critters and their people.

ION, I've been working on dealing with the workings of my brain, making myself ask "Why are you doing that?" when my mind goes in directions that aren't pleasant. It's been very helpful, but, wow, it's wearying to have to be so vigilant. I am in awe of the people who have real issues, as opposed to my minor defects, that you have the energy and will to persevere through all of it.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Sara, I am so sorry.

Because books.

Oh, sara, that's too much in one day. I'm so sorry about Devi.

What's the last thing that made you smile unexpectedly?

Two young women had two toddlers out today, and stopped on the corner across from me to part ways. They told the toddlers (definitely under two, but at least 18 months) to say goodbye, and the little girl leaned over very carefully and laid her head on the little boy's shoulder and put her arms around him. He even patted her back for a second.
