Because books.

An earthquake? Jesus.

What?!?!? I assumed it was muffeletta-level knowledge on the board.

I think I always confused it with Mr. Pib, which was a kind of soda when I was growing (may be still, I have no idea). You're talking to a really unadventurous drinker. I'm fine with a Corona or a Bud Light, and I only like sweeter white wines or sangria, and the hardest cocktail I do is a Canadian Club and ginger ale.

I'm having a g&t.

And can I say how out of sorts not swimming makes me? I've felt dopey all evening. I usually am more alert than this.

I just heard the EQ news.

Man, I'm glad this week is over.

Now if only my vacuum will cooperate this weekend. And the belts arrive tomorrow. They left Brooklyn this morning.

I might have to borrow a vac. The fur situation is baaaaad. I dragged my foot across the carpet and the wad is the size of a small mouse.

Pimm's Cup looks tasty. Maybe getting what I need to make one will be my mission this weekend. I'm not feeling overly ambitious, so that should work.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, any information about the 3 men the police arrested earlier today? They were friends with suspect #2 (the one who is now in custody).

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm having a white wine, because it is too hot for red. And getting my news from y'all while watching Parks and Rec. After that half a gin drink, I may be at my limit.

The fact that I get alerts from USGS is just sad.

Kat, I get alerts from USGS, but I generally ignore them because there are just too damn many. I think that might be sadder. In any case, 6.6 that sounds big.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Wow.

Also, now I'm thirsty.

Also, I managed to wind the string end from one already strung string to the peg across from it of a newly strung string while I was restringing an old mandolin just now. Yeah, I dunno, either.

I can't even picture how that works or why it's a problem. But I believe you.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I didn't have any white wine chilled, and I don't have cocktail mixings/motivation, but I have bourbon!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I should have a Pimm's cup next time I see one on a menu. Maybe tomorrow!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Today ended on a horrible note. Boss was having hissy fits over having to call one contractor twice a day for the past week to get a quote for FEMA, found out that the plant order she put in for a grant funded project never got pulled and they sold everything. I had to creat earmuffs for Ralph The Swear Jar to protect his innocent ears as she went on a tirade and dropped about a dollar fifty in f-bombs. Then it was ten to five, and I went ahead and locked the front doors, to which the six pm closing coworker cheered, boss closed up the library/lounge, and one of them locked the back door. The next time I see her she is livid, becuase she just got yelled at by a visitor because the house was closed five minutes before we were supposed to be, and she dropped about another two dollars for Ralph. I couldn't figure out if she was yelling at me for initiating the closing up early, or just yelling in my general proximity. Her parting words were "Maybe I should start slacking off, too!" and, well, yeah, you should, because you're working ten, twelve hour days, and see your husband one day a week if you're lucky.

She's so strange. She was the kid who ran away and dropped acid, and now it's like she's making amends for being a fucked-up kid. I tried being sympathetic and apologize for starting the ball rolling, but she did participate willingly, and I can't get het up about these things. It sucks that she encountered that one irate visitor who actually knew our hours on that particular day.

I did feel guilty and stayed an hour longer to make sure she didn't encounter any of my leftover messes tomorrow morning (where mostly I bitched to another coworker about the DD and ate key lime pie. Apparently the ED met with the ed staff about how relations with the DD could be improved (hey, he's noticing that not a single person other than him has warm fuzzies for her!)).
