The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I didn't have any white wine chilled, and I don't have cocktail mixings/motivation, but I have bourbon!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I should have a Pimm's cup next time I see one on a menu. Maybe tomorrow!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Today ended on a horrible note. Boss was having hissy fits over having to call one contractor twice a day for the past week to get a quote for FEMA, found out that the plant order she put in for a grant funded project never got pulled and they sold everything. I had to creat earmuffs for Ralph The Swear Jar to protect his innocent ears as she went on a tirade and dropped about a dollar fifty in f-bombs. Then it was ten to five, and I went ahead and locked the front doors, to which the six pm closing coworker cheered, boss closed up the library/lounge, and one of them locked the back door. The next time I see her she is livid, becuase she just got yelled at by a visitor because the house was closed five minutes before we were supposed to be, and she dropped about another two dollars for Ralph. I couldn't figure out if she was yelling at me for initiating the closing up early, or just yelling in my general proximity. Her parting words were "Maybe I should start slacking off, too!" and, well, yeah, you should, because you're working ten, twelve hour days, and see your husband one day a week if you're lucky.

She's so strange. She was the kid who ran away and dropped acid, and now it's like she's making amends for being a fucked-up kid. I tried being sympathetic and apologize for starting the ball rolling, but she did participate willingly, and I can't get het up about these things. It sucks that she encountered that one irate visitor who actually knew our hours on that particular day.

I did feel guilty and stayed an hour longer to make sure she didn't encounter any of my leftover messes tomorrow morning (where mostly I bitched to another coworker about the DD and ate key lime pie. Apparently the ED met with the ed staff about how relations with the DD could be improved (hey, he's noticing that not a single person other than him has warm fuzzies for her!)).

I am getting my news here, too, while watching old Community. I researched and found a Wine & Spirits store near me. PA has odd rules that I've not bothered to figure out until now, which explains why I only have cider.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Dinner is in the oven and I've had a wee bit of white wine, but I'm saving the last for Cody when he gets home. So... red wine, G&T, or martini? Decisions...decisions....

I'm glad the bomber was apprehended alive. Such a surreal conclusion to it all. Oh, and now my kids know as one of their friends came in the room and announced "they caught the bomber!"

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Bourbon is excellent! And watching Community is always good. I applaud y'all's choices. I don't really like Pimm's Cup. I dislike cucumber enough that the whole drink is not for me. Plenty of other cocktails to enjoy, of course.

I don't even know, J-bird. At least it's the weekend now.

Eta: I vote G&T. On no basis whatsoever.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Back to Parks & Rec, and I'm afraid my family is the Gergiches. I mean, minus Christie Brinkley.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I'm home, drinking an inexpertly prepared martini and nursing the scratches I just acquired trying to separate two brawling cats (or, more accurately, one bullying cat and one screaming cat).

Very relieved they caught the suspect. I hope... I don't know what I hope. I hope that's the last time anything like this ever happens, anywhere in the world. That's a reasonable hope, right?

After my third Pimms, I've decided I had 0.5 too many. I feel the same way about my children. Like I have 0.5 a child too many.

Do we need cocktail party chatter?

What is cocktail party chatter?

I just went to a Community place about avoiding touchy topics, like the Negro problem
