For anyone trying to contact people in Boston, the news is reporting that all cell service has been shut down in the city so that no one can remote detonate anything else.

This page lets you track runners [link] but it's no comfort for the person I just checked -- her finish time isn't there.
Come to think of it, there is enough information to say this was the work of an asshole.
I knew at least one person in the marathon, thankfully it's been confirmed through other friends in her running group on FB that she is okay.

During the '96 Olympics, I volunteered at a media center downtown, and I cut through the Centennial Olympic Park each night on my way to MARTA. It's hard to describe what a happy, silly, friendly crowd assembled there. I left the park about half an hour before Eric Rudolph's bomb went off.
