I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Are you sure that BatMan isn't Sauron?

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Okay, remember how I asked about Geico several days ago? Geico doesn't do townhome insurance where we live, so now the current contender is Allstate. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with Allstate? Horror stories?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Allstate left us out in the cold when we had our massive car wreck in Sedona! The wreck wasn't our fault until Allstate worked out that they could cancel our policy (which was our fault, payment late by one day) and have us be uninsured and the other car covered by them. Then it was suddenly our fault and we are still paying off the $15,000 totaled other car, seven years later.

I've been with Allstate for about fifteen years, Dana. No problems, but then I haven't made many claims, either. The prices seem fine but I admit I haven't gone shopping.

Woah, that's a terrifying story, Liese!

I walked to the pool in shorts and a tshirt and it was warm. 2 hours later, it had dropped 20 degrees and wasn't warm at all!

I have SF for home and auto. When I was shopping about, including through AAA, with my multiple line discount, SF was among the lowest tier, and I didn't have to switch (had renters and auto with them already) so I just stayed put.

Isn't it awesome? We had this great moment where we and the other couple (who were all apologetic, isn't there something where you're not supposed to be apologetic for insurance purposes?) walked to the corner where the Allstate office was. Everything was all collegial, oh, we have the same insurer, this is all going to be easy. And then suddenly there was a long pause and a lot of whispering and then bammo, the wreck was our fault.

And it was some holiday, and we'd been on a donated timeshare, so we scrambled and couldn't even get a hotel room to recover that night. So we had the car towed 170 miles home with me all concussed straddling the gearshift in the tow truck.

Fun detail from the wreck? I was holding an open strawberry smoothie at the time. We were hit so hard that my glasses flew off and hit the SO in the head, and my smoothie went splat all over the window, causing him and later the med techs no end of consternation, thinking my injuries were much worse than they were.

Later, the body work guys said that there was basically no way there should have been that much damage to the van (which was also totaled but nobody paid for it, funny) with me able to walk away. My entire side of the vehicle was crushed.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

The swear-jar at work keeps providing joy. I ran out of quarters and wrote an IOU to myself (or rather, to Ralph, the recipient of our transgressions) in really bad handwriting and put the sticky on my computer. My boss laughed so hard she started drooling, which caused me to laugh so hard I couldn't breathe. And I keep laughing whenever I remember how she had her hand cupped under her mouth.

I told my mother about our swear jar and she asked if we were five. I said Yes.

I had a similar.

T-Boned by a car in high school - I had a large cherry slurpy stuck between my seat and the emergency brake, it was squeezed out and splattered all over both myself and the passenger. Nurses who were on the scene (driving by soon after it happened) were FREAKING OUT thinking it was blood at first.
