My sinuses are afire again. And I have meetings I can't work out how to miss, but I am useless so far this morning.

Natter 71: Someone is wrong on the Internet
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I like the Bert and Ernie thing. Especially now, when I've been single for 14 years and it looks like it's gonna stay that way.
I thought my computer weather doodad was telling me it was already 87 here, but then I realized that the weather doodad is next to my Gmail notifer, and I have 87 unread emails. I feel a little better about that, because 87 degrees on April 9th is NUTS. (It is, however, 70.)
Also, Nutella rice krispie treats ZOMG.
Actively snowing in Utah.
We were supposed to get snow on Friday. Now the forecast is for rain mixed with snow.
Friday is April 12th, Mother Nature.
Speaking of Nutella, anyone want to admit to anything? This is a safe space, honest: [link]
I'm not entirely sure why Bert and Ernie have a particular uncoupley chemistry, and despite planning on being unmated for the rest of my life, I don't see why friendship deserves equality. It's a different thing. Just...different. What would equality look like? What's the win in this scenario?
It's warm and sunny. The Gray Cat won't come inside. I saw my first butterfly and my first ladybug of the year. It's Spring! For reals!

I thought the woman posting about Bert and Ernie simply meant that it's good to show kids you don't have to follow traditional expectations.

And that you can still lead a happy life without being part of a couple if you have good friends.

I'm never going to argue with that, but when you use the word "equality" near "queer", you're bringing some baggage along. if there's not parallel to that, I'd think there are better ways to phrase it.
And saying that Ernie and Bert can show that is different from saying that's what Ernie and Bert are. And I got the latter more than the former, inasmuch as we sexualise or at least adultify everything we see. I also think "fundamentally good" cries out for an "as opposed to what?" clarification, but I am overfond of weighing every phrase.
I have to pick a book character to illustrate. I don't actually have a favourite book character (anymore--this would have been dragons or laran-wielding twenty years ago). And I really don't have a visual of these characters. So far I'm tossing around Vlad Taltos (or a friend) and Lilith or Anyawu from Octavia Butler's work. Ugh. Read more, ita !
I told someone at work that I wanted to replace my surname with a punctuation mark (I haven't forgotten my de la O dreams, but these were easier to yell over the divider). He thinks I'm really mean. However, he's named the same thing as his brother and sister, so he doesn't understand my life.
