what business is going to ignore an unpaid balance because you gave an employee a tip??
I can't imagine anyone is tipping with that in mind.
But they are also not doing it with the organization's general budget in mind. If employees are required to hand them over, and the tippers are not being told that fact, I'd consider that extremely shady, if not outright fraudulent.
I've already seen both eps and I would vote for watching GoT first, but either order is excellent.
Great! And now I have a plan.
Either you have a clear "No Tipping" policy, or employees get to keep tips.
I can say with certainty that where I work, official policies are avoided so the PTB can make shit up as it suits them.

Thanks, Scrappy. It's not in our Employee Handbook.
Hm, maybe I'll ask the ED tomorrow. On one hand, he's the guy who realizes that while we can't get compensated monetarily what we're worth, so we deserve comp time if we exceed 40 hours. On the other, he squeezes every free thing he can from our vendors and has no shame about double-dipping.
That's ridiculous! If that were the policy, I would totally rat the company out and tell the customer if they tipped me.

If you get paid by the hour, that would be illegal in New York -- overtime has to be paid.
Yeah, the part-timers aren't allowed to work beyond their allotted time, which sucks because I *know* one of them does work at home or lies on her time sheet when she stays late (she is far far too nice, she's the one who was having guilt over the tip. I hope her hubby is well-off and that she's just working because she's bored).
BUT! We were told that we fell into a special category where the org isn't obligated to pay OT for the salaried folk.
I've never worked out if there's an official comp time scenario, but my manager does send people home if they've been working since a big weekend or similar. Sadly, some of us do get roused in the middle of the night, but those generally make scenarios where you ditch the coming morning--you generally need to be all over the next morning, just in case. But she does let people work from home on those occasions, and I'd imagine she wouldn't throw a fit it you relax a bit then.
A co-worker came to my desk while I was otherwise distracted, and someone else asked me if I was available right then. I said "No, I don't think so--co-worker is probably be here to talk to me, unless he's just enjoying the lovely view" and I
pointedly
(like, with both hands pointedly) gestured at the window. If the reply is "I have been enjoying the lovely view" isn't it polite to make it clear you're talking about the view outside the window, and it's a bit creepy if there's a "Know what I mean?" tone to the whole thing?
I was taken a bit aback, but I'm the world's largest office prude.
So, yesterday my refund was up around $2K, and somehow now it is back down to $250. I have no idea what I've done.
Going back over everything now.
