Coolness!
Isn't it? He just had this interchange with Thelonious' son:
Me: "Hey TS, Thank you very much for performing my piece, man."
TS Monk: "Hey man, NO problem. It ain't no s***....you can write! When they first told me someone local was going to write a tune for the show, I said, 'What kind of bulls*** ia this?' Then I heard the tune. You can WRITE! Bulls****ing is hard, but tellin' the truth is easy....you can write!"
olive oil is my problem, not garlic or basil. I love those both the mostest. I'm also probably not a fan of pine nuts, but the olive oil thing is strong enough that they are moot.
ita, what about a more mild nut oil? I've been using hazelnut oil for everything. It doesn't hold any flavor when cooked, but when raw it is divine (hazelnut oil, miso and lime is my current fave combo). Pesto without pine nuts, but with hazelnuts, garlic, basil and parmesan sounds divine.
Awesome, liese!
Also, happy birthday Amy!
Liese, that is fantastic.
"Seriously, man....it's RIGHT. You know a tune is right when you ask yourself 'Why would it be written any other way?' That bridge is right....that tune is right."
"I mean, if we had a room full of jazz greats in here, we'd play the s*** out of that tune."
That's really great, specific praise! I'm all bouncing around giddy on his behalf! I can't imagine how the SO is actually feeling at the moment!
Arrrggg. My phone is spoiling me for the game. I am watching the game through CJ's PS3 which has a bit of a lag to it. Not huge, but enought that whoever does the text updates for MLB is able to tell me that the A's tied the game before the pitch is even thrown to the batter. So my phone goes buzz, I glance over, see that the A's scored, then I get to see how it happened.
Write that down on paper and post it in the room he works. Cause when he's having a hard time, that will be the most awesome reminder that he's got the magic in him.
That's a great idea. I should totally make it a graphic designed poster for his studio!
