"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I am applying for a job that's a year term in London. It's an archives job at a theatre, so I would be a good fit.

I want that for you so much!

Fingers crossed on the interview, msbelle.

Brava, msbelle! I think an external position is preferable, if they can meet your salary needs. Shake the dust of this place off your feet!

Me, I haven't applied for any jobs this week: there aren't a ton of positions open right now, and what there is, would require a move. But I've revised and revised my resume and I'm sending it out to friends and former coworkers.

I wonder if I could set up as a freelance consultant? I'm absolutely killer at QA, and if I could get, say, 24 hours/week doing QA work, that would be nice. Except for the whole health insurance thing. I wonder when California's health exchanges get started?

hip deep in pie

Thanks guys. In my head, I have already half moved to London, even though I think they want someone with a slightly more technical/PM background than mine. I have to work on the application this weekend.

There is a part of the application that asks for ethnicity info. They say it's to track for diversity and equal opportunity policies and is removed from application before evaluation is made. Under the "White" ethnicities there are three choices: English, Irish, and "Any other white background." I LOL'd for about an hour over that.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Man, employers are going to have to treat their staff SO much better once the health exchanges get started. Its worth if for that alone.

yay for interview msbelle!

I am not sure why, but Roger Ebert's death has made me very sad. Every time I read things about it I start crying.

According to the Calif Health Benefits Exchange, they start Jan 1, 2014. I think the high risk pool is already open, but I'm guessing you aren't high risk.

I am now imagining a high risk pool. It has a very deep end. It has two diving boards directly across from each other. It has flame spouts WITHOUT popping sounds.
