Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I am now imagining a high risk pool. It has a very deep end. It has two diving boards directly across from each other. It has flame spouts WITHOUT popping sounds.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I am not sure why, but Roger Ebert's death has made me very sad. Every time I read things about it I start crying.

I know what you mean. I went over to the Chicago Sun-Times web site to see what they had there, but when I started readin Chaz Ebert's statement I couldn't bring myself to finish it or read anything else.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

MFNLaw,

as someone who moved last year, and I was in the house for years. and I have unpacked about 50% of the stuff I moved (and that is probably generous), I strongly recommend you do not pack alone if you can help it. I found a box of my high school shit and that just about derailed any progress I made that day of packing.

People you like, helping you pack, can keep you on task and make some of the misery bearable. The job is just overwhelming and doing it along makes it more so.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I'm guessing you aren't high risk.

Nah, I'm pretty healthy, except for my sinuses. My vet just told me my eight-year-old dog has arthritis, though. Poor thing! So I have to get glucosamine at TJ's, hopefully that will help her.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I would totally come with msbelle and have a packing party with you, Maria. We would have a blast. And then we would have neatly labeled boxes with spreadsheets of what's in them.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

When we eventually move, I'm really tempted to bring out Msbelle and Liese to help with packing. I know that Plei will take things out of my hands and tell me "NO", but I fear that won't be enough to combat my packrat ways.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Job~ma for msbelle and Sue!

"High-risk pool" made me laugh.

In the category of annoying transitory problems: I got 2 hours sleep last night. I have a headache and a stomachache and work is craxy and my pets have been making noise at me since 3am for no discernable reason, and I really want to go back to bed AND be allowed to sleep in it.

Also, I need a haircut and a dye job and my hair looks terrible, so I can't leave the house without a hipster hat.
