I just (like, on my lunch break a couple of hours ago)applied for a couple of permanent positions where I am temping. I doubt I will be negotiating for anything at this point, but I feel pretty good about my chances of getting an offer on one of them, at least.

"Were You There" is probably my favorite Easter hymn. At church camp, the minister of youth/choir director asked me to sing it a cappella at a specific point in the campfire service. Unexpected, in the starlit dark, after an extremely poignant anecdote. There were people weeping--weeping. Felt powerful, though emotionally manipulative. The mystery of the unexpected day off is solved! Which I figured out when I looked at my calendar this morning. Tis the season where me and boss lady start working Saturdays, switching off every month. And she'd asked me to work this coming Saturday in her stead. I was expecting to comp next Monday, and we hadn't discussed this on Friday. But, bless her, she'd decided to comp me this Monday so I wouldn't be working a six day week. I'll only have a one day weekend, but, right now that sounds better than a six day week.
I do kinda wish that I'd known that ahead of time, though. Or that she'd texted me back with the reason why she was excusing me from work (it would've been an AWESOME day to finish the seed order for the veggie garden, jut me and the CHED director, since she also called in a mental health day on Monday -- I worry for mine and her's sanity, as she's going to be seeing her husband less and less this season).

I..don't remember how many days I get. It's PTO, not split. But part of the reason I took this job is my last company decided to change from 23 days PTO to 17.not ok. This company might be 22 or 23...it was more than 17.
I was given a Final Written Notice today. I think I may have 2 months before getting fired.

Does anyone know if I can COBRA if I quit? (say if I get a temp job with no medical).
There is one FT position with the company that I know I could do, but I am not sure our HR will even pass on my resume to the hiring manager. I will be applying through our internal website tonight though and letting the hiring manager know tomorrow. That way I will now if it is even worth my time to apply for anything internally if something comes up before I am fired.
I did push back in the "meeting" where I was given this write up. Nothing except attendance is concrete that was documented as my failings. I work 40 hours every week. I have only ever had a written comment on my time when 1 hour of overtime was questioned. My timesheet is approved every week without comment. If I arrive to work 15-30 minutes after 8, then I work through lunch to make up that time. I know he would prefer me to be in at 8 sharp every morning, but I had never been told that my solution to the days where I run late was unacceptable and needed to be stopped.
I loathe my boss so much, but I am not spending energy to try and fix and unfixable situation. I am only working on not being fired any earlier. oh and spending all home time on finding a new job (right after this post).

msbelle, I would type up your protest to his written notice, and give it, and his write-up, to HR. Note that you don't have anything documented on his complaints.
Also, how is it a Final Written Notice? Did they give you other warnings?
