Yay, Vortex!
I'm working for a non-profit, which means that salaries aren't all that, but the bennies are good. When my parents were dying I saved up my vacation days in case I needed extended time off to care for them, and never really got back into the habit of mental health days. Too much unused leave gets turned into sick leave at the end of the year. And I'm lucky enough to be relatively healthy, so I haven't used much sick leave. So now I have about three months of sick leave and four weeks of vacation available. I hope I'm never unwell enough to need the former, but if I am it'll be good to have.
But the two episodes of Lucky Louis I saw were easily laugh out loud
Really? I tried to watch it back when it aired and found it not amusing at all, nigh on unwatchable. But I love his current FX show.
Congratulations, Vortex!
We need to figure out a way to do the wave in here.
Great news, Vortex!
I am in a small nonprofit, and I'm paid OK (not great, but whatevs), and get health insurance paid for. We also only have 2 weeks of vacation (plus 5 days sick) but we get 2 weeks off at Christmas as well as a nice Mardi Gras and Thanksgiving break. Tom gets paid well, but has three weeks general PTO that is used for vacation, sick, bereavement, etc. I think it's awful, but the worst part is, that he negotiated that when accepting the job, and everyone else in the company has only TWO WEEKS PTO total per year. (except, I imagine, the executives)
Congrats, Vortex!
Can I ask for a few crossed fingers today? My conference is today, and I just want it to go well.
Good luck, Burrell! I'm sure it will be great.

Holy shitsnacks, that's terrible.
I work for a big nonprofit with decent pay and OK benefits. I have three weeks of vacation and I think two of sick? I pay a medium amount for mediocre health coverage (apparently the family plans are super expensive.).
