I'll just jump in my time machine, go back to the twelfth century, and ask the vampires to postpone their ancient prophesy for a few days while you take in dinner and a show.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I can live with a little less pretty if it makes me look a little younger...

Time for a lip piercing. That's what the youngsters are doing.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I've decided that this isn't about me. It's about the fact that they decided the job was completely different than what I've been doing, and thus there was no reason to hire me for it. That's basically what my current boss said.

It's not about you. And any justification they give is also not about you, it's about them trying not to feel like dicks.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

aurelia is wise.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Fuck, I finally got to leave and buy food. Saying "I choose to prioritise my stomach over your screen" felt pretty freeing.

Still haven't had my one on one yet. That fun is around the corner.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I spent a good part of my day searching for jobs. Found a couple of things to apply for. I know it is risky doing this at work but 1) I am tired at night and have choir practice tonight. 2) I dislike my bosses, so professionalism is not high on my list right now.

Suck IT!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And...one on one is had. I didn't get a particularly good review for last year, despite bringing in two major projects--I can deliver, she said, but the middle bits are messy.

I told her I wouldn't have rated myself either, because I've been highly frustrated in my inability to please our users. I've been jumping over steps because we don't have the right manpower to take them. And I've been leaning on resources outside our department, which infuriates my boss, because he's on the line for other people's work, but I WANT SOME RESULTS. I want stuff done. I want to fix and enhance and turn in solutions that make me want to fist pump.

I explained that I felt like I was making excuses for IT to the business, and vice versa, instead of representing. And now that the business has clear goals about excelling, and our goals seem to be about bracing the apple cart...

I also explained that the primary developer that I'm working with can't fill the hole her predecessors left (INCOMPETENT), and I can't work out how to accommodate that, but she wants instructions, and my job is requirements not instructions, and she can't tell the difference (INCOMPETENT) (and in fact is panicked by the freedom to make decisions (INCOMPETENT)). And, finally, my manager agreed.

I'd rather have had a glowing eval, but she left saying she had a lot to think about, and she left saying she doesn't doubt my zeal to produce, so that's the most important stuff taken care of.

And I left determined to work this fucking system until it begs me for mercy.

Right. Timesheets for March...

brillig

Just talked to someone with an interesting name: Ithimar. And he had an accent I couldn't place, something European. He was in Florida, though, so it could have been anything.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.
