"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So Emmett got asked to Prom.

If you remember the movie scene in Goblet of Fire where Fred Weasley asks Angelina to the Yule Ball, it was much like that.

The girl in question, Laura, wadded up a ball of paper and threw it at Emmett. It just had "Prom?" scribbled on it, to which he nodded yes.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

After Emmett's scrimmage last week, and I took him and Matilda out to lunch I may have suggested we get burgers at Barneys on Solano because that's where Laura works.

She was *totally* flustered when we walked in the door, but cute and got to meet Matilda.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Cute.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, apparently I got one of the details wrong.

She didn't write the note on a wad of paper. She wrote it on a baseball and threw it to him.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

How can that gay agenda work without an entry for coming home from work? Also, I suspect they're slacking between 7:45 and 8:00 because no way does that take fifteen minutes.

Research finding re: oatmeal cookies--tastier without garlic.

That girl is going to go far.

There was supposed to be a call with the CIO at 4:15, and I'm sitting here with my dumb headphones on waiting to hit "answer", but...and there's no way this meeting gets to run late (she's in with the CEO before us, and her time is divvied up in quarter hour increments, unlike normal people). But I need to turn off soon...today has been intensely frustrating, and I need to blow off steam.
