And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Ironically, I love hosting parties. Because when you're the host, it's incredibly easy to control the level of interaction by excusing yourself to go check on something in the kitchen. So much easier than being a guest with nothing to do except talk!

I think all of those introverts are needed to balance you out!

We do joke that I'm everyone's stunt extrovert. It's also why I was quasi-promoted to Terminology Czarina at work: I have no problems wandering around the office and asking the developers WHY they think that's the best term for that thing.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Much like Jess, though I have Scripts for Having to Talk, I tend to be quiet in the hair chair. I tell my stylist that it's because I trust her, which is true. She does a great job, can talk if she feels like it, and I feel no real need to chatter back.

And she's been doing my hair for about two years now.

BRAIN TWIN!

Seriously, I told my therapist this! Also, if I'm doing something concrete and useful, like making pancakes for a brunch, I am satisfying people without having to interact!

Whereas I dislike hosting parties. Too much stuff to do! Things to arrange! Not enough time to talk to people!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't want to talk about sexual harassment with strangers. I find the conversation disturbing...HR!

Having small children is also an excellent party strategy for introverts. You can be so busy making sure they get fed and don't injure themselves or others that you don't have to talk to any new people!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Made it home OK. It only took an extra 20 minutes. But I did nearly get stuck trying to drive up a slippery hill--the traction control was on continuously for a minute as I climbed the hill at about 2 mph. (I kept on wanting to press harder on the gas pedal, but when the traction control is already on, more gas doesn't do anything.)

Heh, buffistas who have met me in meat space have met my children for this very reason.
