I wasn't sure I hated Seth MacFarlane, but it's pretty clear that I don't want to look at his stupid face, and he's really making me feel uncomfortable. Also, I'm unsure which of his lines are jokes.

Good call, though, on the Channing Tatum. If you want to distract me on the "stupid face" front, he's exactly the guy. His personality seems fine, but he is a stupid face.
I was...pleasantly not as horrified as I expected to be by MacFarlane's opening act.

If he just did everything in the voice of Brian (the dog) then he'd be fine.
McFarlane has a nice voice. He just needs to have other people write the majority of his words and add a soundtrack.

Exactly! I was preemptively in the hall, but I didn't need to be.
Also, Charlize Theron dancing was delightful. Channing Tatum looked a little heavy on his feet, though.
Ok, being played off with the music from Jaws. Genius.
Oh whew! Everyone on my FB thought it was the worst opening they'd ever seen, and I was getting worried that I was the only person who didn't think it was terrible at all.
Some of McFarlane's jokes are uncomfortable clunkers, but hell - like that's never happened before.
I thought it was awkward as fuck. If William Shatner improves things, they were pretty sorry for me. The dancing was the best part--I saw Tatum fumble his hands a little, but his feet looked fine at least as far as I was following. The dancing and the innocuous songs were good, but very indistinct.
I find Seth has also a very indistinct voice. I'm never going to know that's him.
Poor Hobbit. Between 48fps and live singing their makeup didn't stand a chance.
So far I feel the ceremony's only been funny a couple of times, and it was mostly Melissa deadpanning. But I'm way OTT in love with her, so perspective probably lost for all time.
