I'm supposed to deliver you to the Master now. There's this whole deal where I get to be immortal. Are you cool with that?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Awesome, thank you! I think I got it now.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I just emailed Dylan's teacher asking if I could help out with school supplies - it's been two days since he used up all the pages in his marble homework notebook and she hasn't given him a new one. I figure it's about a 50/50 chance of having 29 kids to keep track of and just forgetting to give him a new one vs running out and not having a budget to buy more. Hopefully she won't think I'm just being passive-aggressive about Dylan turning in homework on loose leaf paper the past two days...

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Well crap. Just when I thought things were starting to settle down (post washer dying, flood, bed bugs, getting a new washer/dryer, K-Bug moving out...), I got a letter from Colorado DMV. Apparently after I left California, 4.5 years ago, my license was suspended. I had a ticket, which I would swear I had paid before I moved, that turned to a failure to appear. I didn't know a thing about this until yesterday. If I don't get this sorted out before March 24th, I lose my Colorado license.

I called CA DMV and then the courts and have paid the original ticket again (I don't have the records to go back and be able to prove I paid it 4.5 years ago and it is only $93). Now I have to wait for the courts to notify CA DMV and then I need to pay CA DMV a $55 fee to reinstate my license (which doesn't make sense since I don't need a CA license), get a "letter of clearance" and then go to reapply for my CO license. Oy!!! At least the money side of this mess is manageable. It is just getting all the pieces pulled together within 4 weeks that has me concerned.

Because books.

Jessica, do the teachers distribute school supplies? Our kids just get a homework agenda book, but nothing else.

At least the money side of this mess is manageable.

It's a bright side, even though the DMV is evil incarnate.

Yeah, at the beginning of the year I bought 6 marble notebooks and 2 boxes of pencils (and a zillion other things, printer paper, dry-erase markers, crayons, erasers, colored folders, etc). I've replaced pencils and erasers on my own (because kids lose shit), but everything else is supposed to come from that batch of supplies we turned in back in September.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

God, Suzi. At least you have a handle on it now?

I'm trying to think--in a scenario like that, what can you do to prove you paid it? I guess it depends on how you paid it, but I wouldn't even know about getting records that old. I do actually have carbons for my chequebook, but I shred them when I'm done--that's just the only way I can get Batman.

Incompetent developer is...oy. The non-prod system "broke" sometime last week. First thing she did was blame it on me, and when I explained that the changes I'd made weren't related either by type or by time to the errors that were coming up, she went silent. Stopped replying to my emails on the subject. Finally she asks me if she needs to fix it because it's just the test system. Well, we have a release next weekend, and perhaps revolutionarily, it will need to be tested before then.

More radio silence. I start ccing her on emails to other people where I say "When she tells you it's fixed, then you can start your testing", and somehow, some way, she discovered this morning that it actually was her fault, that what I told her was the problem is the problem, and she is actually taking some responsibility for pushing back needlessly.

I wish this counted for the other stuff she has to do--I'm now back to ccing our manager on "give me a heads up when you're done this" emails, because she is just unresponsive.

Exhausting.

Oh jeez, Suzi. Good luck getting that straightened out!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

There have been many R2-D2 and C-3PO dresses, but this one is especially nice: C-3PO Dress - Neatorama

Or maybe the fact that it's not especially silly makes it look nicer.
