I'm not opposed to gluten and wouldn't avoid it except...when I eat oatmeal or anything breadier than flatbread and tortillas, my gut does scary airy things that hurt. Do not like. I love my bread and pasta. I gave up lotsapasta because salad was a better easy meal choice, but OMG, not thrilled that my digestive system has gone on boycott.

I gave up sugar for lent, but only the big obvious sugar like desserts and I have already messed up some, but I am being aware and trying to remember and I did not have cake today at the department lunch, so that is something.

I need to give up white starches. I felt so much better when I cut out white rice, pasta, and potatoes. Something to work towards again.
It is day 5 since I fell on my knee. It has scabbed over pretty good, but now
the scabs are cracking
causing new pain and grossness. I still can't bend my leg easily, making sitting down, getting in and out of the car, and just about everything else painful.

I am craving steamed dumplings big time -- it's the random cravings for things with no readily available substitute that still kill me.
I got my sister the Gluten Free Asian Kitchen cookbook mostly for the dumpling recipes (and because it includes a recipe from the chef at a restaurant she likes and that I've eaten at with her several times). So that's an option. It's been out for a while, now, so your library might have a copy.
Oooh, yes, my library system has it, so I just requested it. Dumplings!
I haven't given up anything for Lent. This conversation makes me feel like a BLOB, esp since
today is DH's birthday, so we went to Pacos for Mexican food and margaritas and wee mini cupcakes for dessert. I am way too full now, WAY too full. Oof. I think I'm going to waddle off to bed.
