Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Thinking of your current role, what opportunities within your department do you see to help you develop?

I can barely understand what they are asking. Yeesh.

I suspect some of the questions on those forms are just there to fuck with us.

Oh wait, I know this one! Talk about the opportunities to improve communication and strengthen partnership across roles!

(Yes, I wrote my self-eval recently.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Wait, I almost forgot I have the talking points from Bellwether pinned above my desk!

  • Optimize potential
  • Facilitate empowerment
  • Implement visioning
  • Strategize priorities
  • Augment core structures

Nice. Love the bellwether talking points. I have also cribbed previous company talking points into new company ones--"I am change-ready and learning-focused!"

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Thinking of your current role, what opportunities within your department do you see to help you develop?

Department-wide awesomeness deficit, to be remediated by the development of a fully accessible, intranet based program of My Awesomeness Veneration, with incentives (like ice cream vending machines) for divisions within my department that achieve 75% or better staff participation in MAV.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Steph! YAY! Congratulations! I love the ring. Is there a story behind it?

Actually, not really, other than he picked it out himself (the stone and the setting), and he had remembered I said that while diamonds are sparkly and awesome, I have issues with the industry. So he picked a sapphire because...I don't remember the reason he gave. I think he just liked it. And the setting is, for real, called a tiara setting. (When he proposed, he led into it by saying that because it was our anniversary, he had a card and -- I quote -- a little something. I read the card, which is beautiful, and then he handed me a tiny drawstring bag and said "I got you a tiara." I already suspected what was afoot, but I said, "You can't fool me. This is no tiara!" And then I dumped the ring out, he took it, got down on one creaky knee and proposed, and after the yeses and kisses, he said, "Seriously, this is called a tiara setting. You get to wear a tiara every day!")

He also chose the setting because it sits fairly low, because I am a klutz and flail around and trip and engage in all sorts of unintentional pratfalls, often whacking him in the process (or, once, scratching his face, ISTG). He said he figured this setting gave him the best chances of not getting maimed. Seriously. Because we're a couple of goddamn romantics.
