I dunno, when I was listening to the press conference, the whole thing felt like: Reporter asks absurdly sensationalist question. Speaker says something like "I have not heard that" or "I have no information on that" or my favorite "It's an unfolding situation. They aren't updating me." Reporter repeats sensational claim. And on and on until: Reporter: "So we don't know for sure, but there IS a possibility that "
That's what I got from the press conference too. I am shocked she stayed there as long as she did. It was just random sensationalist questions at the end.
They have said that they knew a suspect was in the cabin, they took out every window, launched the smokey canisters (I want to say tear gas or smoke bombs but I'm not sure, so something smokey) and then methodically took out the walls one by one. Then single shot, big fire and it burning a long time with no going in because it wasn't safe with an armed suspect. Then Fire Dept was given the situation.
Which, I don't see how that situation was ever meant to lead to an arrest. From the first I saw of this about four hours ago, it was clearly going to end with death. The sheriff who died was just taken from Loma Linda in the coroners van with many law enforcement following with silent lights.
Okay, SotU. That's less depressing right now.
