oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I couldn't get on the computer for fun yesterday -- so I have to bring up yesterdays conversation .

but first - go Lief !

Eating

Now I am on insulin. It works better than any thing has in years ( including training to walk 60 Miles ) . But as part of this I've reupped my personal studies on nutrition . I read fork over knives , looked at the paleo diet and I am reading "Minding My mitocondria" by Dr. Terry Wahls.

Conclusions: different diets work better for different people. However, there are some things they all have in common:

1) Mostly plants starting with non - starchy veggies a variety of plants will get you a variety micro nutrients

Limited overly processed foods and added sugar and preservatives

meat /grains / dairy is where they all start differing and it seems that different people react differently to these foods

I'm still figuring out what works best for me. I suspect that most of us can afford to be flexible.

I'm sorry to hear tha t, nora. Most of the newspapers around here have dropped in quality -- I spent part of yesterday talking with a friend and designing what a fantasy local paper would look like.

taking food out a NO newspaper is not one of them ( the news pars are obvious I hope )

Our wings are not tired.

That is sad to hear, Nora. The Times Picayune has an excellent reputation.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I hate when you experience something, and the stress it causes is so immediate that it has a physical manifestation. I can feel the throbbing in my veins just from reading this: [link] and it's not like I didn't know this would happen when I typed in the URL. But...I just wanted to see...and now that's done.

So, if you're wondering if that tumblr would stress you out, go read yoisthisracist again instead. At least that has rebuttals to the idiocy.

T-P's has continued doing great work- it was lauded (and awarded, I believe) for its post-Katrina coverage and just wrapped up an amazing in-depth series about the prison system in Louisiana. It's respected (and read) by the community.

Our wings are not tired.

Nora, that's appalling.

Because books.

That's really heartbreaking, Nora. I understand the reasons for the decline of newspapers, but a major city without a daily paper just seems wrong. Especially if a large percentage of that city isn't going to have access to web news.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

That is awful, Nora.

So, if you're wondering if that tumblr would stress you out, go read yoisthisracist again instead. At least that has rebuttals to the idiocy.

I wish I had done that. I am now a ball of rage.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I was so sad about the Times-Picayune. The staffers were my heroes during and after Katrina.
