It's simple. I slap 'em around a bit, torture 'em, make their lives hell...Sure, the nice guys'll run away, but every now and then you'll find a prince like Spike who gets off on it.

Our wings are not tired.

That is sad to hear, Nora. The Times Picayune has an excellent reputation.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I hate when you experience something, and the stress it causes is so immediate that it has a physical manifestation. I can feel the throbbing in my veins just from reading this: [link] and it's not like I didn't know this would happen when I typed in the URL. But...I just wanted to see...and now that's done.

So, if you're wondering if that tumblr would stress you out, go read yoisthisracist again instead. At least that has rebuttals to the idiocy.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Most of the newspapers around here have dropped in quality

T-P's has continued doing great work- it was lauded (and awarded, I believe) for its post-Katrina coverage and just wrapped up an amazing in-depth series about the prison system in Louisiana. It's respected (and read) by the community.

Nora, that's appalling.

Because books.

That's really heartbreaking, Nora. I understand the reasons for the decline of newspapers, but a major city without a daily paper just seems wrong. Especially if a large percentage of that city isn't going to have access to web news.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

That is awful, Nora.

I wish I had done that. I am now a ball of rage.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I was so sad about the Times-Picayune. The staffers were my heroes during and after Katrina.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Brett Anderson, a James Beard award winner food writer, has been laid off.

Ooh, I'm pretty sure he was my nemesis (in my head) a million years ago when he wrote for the Washington City Paper. I was so weirdly obsessed with that paper.

Jesus. I was sure the poster was pulling the number from their ass (because it seemed *so* unsustainable), but for this year, it's true: soldier suicides are one per day in 2012. It is an uptick, but the original numbers were still larger than I was wrapping my head around. I mean, that's active duty.

No, I have no idea why today is depressing day. I really need a distraction.
