This is the last Venus transit photo for me. Just dropping below the horizon now.

My understanding of research into brain-training games is that they mostly make you better at playing brain-training games.

That's what I've read, too. You get better at the games, but it doesn't have much effect on anything else.

I'm cranky because a butcher at my local grocery store was clearly put out by getting a request from me, and (1) declined to make a fresh cut of steak for me, (2) declined to halve a pre-existing family pack of said cut for me, and (3) told me not to check back in a few days because they would only be putting out the large family packs then too.

You win, Mr. butcher. I won't be bothering you any more. And I've just written a letter to your regional headquarters detailing exactly why I'll be bothering your store's newly-opened competitors instead from now on. So rest easy in the knowledge that your higher-ups will know what a good job you're doing saving your store the bother of selling me stuff.

I've committed myself to opening up my heart to our dog since my folks' dog died. It's not his fault he is a breed I would not have selected. And he really is a sweet, cute boy. Just really herdy-hyper.

Argh. So angry with my state right now. Was about ready to go to bed when I heard they called it for Walker, and now I'm too cranky to be sleepy.

I do have to wonder if the GOTV drive by the Dems was too heavy in this instance. In the last week we've received at least 30 calls and 10 door knocks from Dem supporters reminding us to vote today. It was incredibly aggravating, and I say this as someone who desperately wanted Walker out of office. I can only imagine the reaction of someone who was on the fence about the whole thing.

The lack of ballots issue is incredibly troubling.

The trainer at practice told me I probably have bursitis in my elbow--having fallen hard during one of the bouts this weekend and burst my bursa. (Say that out lout--hilarious.) That shit hurts.

And I had to talk to a life coach from our insurance company about my "weight loss plan" to save $280 a year on premiums.

And Walker pulled it off.

Fuck this shit, I'm out. I'm going to bed for a week.

exit polls seem to indicate that 80% of the voters had made up their mind WRT how they would vote about 6-8 weeks ago. The "undecideds" were only about 12% of the population.

Most people voting don't believe in recall votes. So I guess they'd prefer to see the WI governor indicted instead. That will probably happen...
